2008 Writing Resolutions

leave a response

Just like any other writer, I can be excessively eager to start things anew at the beginning of the year. Last year, I avoided spreading myself thin and settled on attainable goals. I’m happy to note that I was able to do most of the things I listed. If there had been any “drawback,” it was only the prolonged bed rest needed for my pregnancy. Needless to say, I wasn’t able to do articles that required field interviews.

Now I begin another writing year with new projects and remarkable changes in both professional and personal aspects. I am now a writing mom. Some may label me a SAHM (Stay-At-Home Mom) or a WAHM (Work-At-Home Mom). Labels aside, I am just your usual freelance writer who has entered a new phase in her life.

Before I begin writing my new year’s resolutions as a freelance writer, let me just pin down some things that are in store for me:

* I’ll be editing a value-themed magazine for preschoolers.
* I’ll still be writing children’s stories for grade schoolers.
* I’ll be providing content for this blog.
* I’ll continue writing health/medical articles for local magazines.

On the side, there will still be copy-editing and proofreading jobs to work on.

That’s all. Much as I want to cover events and do field interviews anytime I want, I can only do them on weekends and on holidays. I’m not complaining. I’m happy to be at home taking care of my daughter and writing in between. :o)

And before I bore you with other things, let me list down my 2008 resolutions as a freelance writer:

  1. Write more articles on health, particularly on pregnancy and child care
  2. Blog more often and promote my blogs
  3. Write more stories for children

Yes, I don’t want to scourge myself with a long list of things I can’t do anyway. ;o)

How about you? Have you made your 2008 writing resolutions yet? If you have, feel free to share them with WLG.

Here’s to another year full of writing gigs!
